Colleagues and friends,
In my role as president of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (AR-ACDA), it is my great honor to extend a heartfelt welcome to you. Arkansas boasts a profound legacy in choral music, one that has profoundly influenced countless lives. Thanks to the pioneering efforts of individuals like Dr. Jeffery Murdock, Cherie Collins, and numerous others, our state’s choral tradition has not only endured but flourished even in challenging times.
As we embark on our journey as a professional learning community, it is essential that we continuously evolve. Our upcoming summer conference, titled ARtistry Redefined (July 29-August 1, Wyndham Riverfront—North Little Rock), aims to thoroughly explore every dimension of our capabilities, propelling us forward with a renewed purpose.
Throughout this transformative endeavor, we aspire for all stakeholders to:
- Strengthen their choral communities through dedicated service.
- Re-evaluate instructional methods, placing a strong emphasis on literacy and repertoire selection.
- Elevate performance practices by integrating program narratives with expressive and technical intricacies.
Through our collective dedication, we aim to empower directors across Arkansas, establishing our state as a beacon of excellence not only in choral music but also in the broader artistic landscape. Together, let us redefine artistry in Arkansas and beyond.
Warm regards,
Larry Dunn
